Counseling & Family Support

Individual, couples, and family counseling can help older adults, their families, and their caregivers cope with the inevitable stresses that comes with aging. Our skilled staff helps seniors manage changes in independence or health; the death of a loved one; isolation due to illness or disability; or moving from a life-long home. We also assist adult children with the psychological demands of caring for an aging family member.

Adult Children of Aging Parents

Through counseling, consultation, workshops, and support groups, the Suse Moyal Center for Older Adult Services assists caregiving family members with a range of critical issues. We help caregivers plan long-term care, deal with their loved one’s deteriorating health, and cope with stressful family dynamics.

Long-Distance Caregiving

The Suse Moyal Center for Older Adult Services makes it possible for your loved one to get excellent care even when you are not there to give it yourself. We provide support and caregiver referrals for family members with older loved ones living outside the Bay Area, and also coordinate local services for older adults whose caregiving relatives are outside the area. Through direct care management, our staff regularly monitors and reports on the status of loved ones.

JFCS/East Bay offers phone consultations and provides referrals to other support services in the community.
