Family & Senior Support
Our team of case managers and licensed therapists provides a range of culturally sensitive prevention and intervention services aimed at helping parents create nurturing family environments, be effective parents in a new culture, and resolve problems without family violence. We also offer services designed to help refugee and immigrant seniors access the health care system, reduce social isolation, and increase linkages to community resources.
Family Support
JFCS/East Bay provides ongoing support groups in Spanish, Farsi, and Bosnian about dealing with the stress of parenting in two cultures, talking to your child's teacher, positive discipline, communication, and reducing stress in the family. Our Afghan psychologist, who is bilingual in Farsi/Dari, is available for assessment and early intervention for families. All of our bilingual case managers have deep experience in helping people work through the kinds of issues that are commonly faced by refugee and immigrant families.
Senior Support
JFCS/East Bay's monthly groups for Spanish-, Russian-, and Farsi-speaking seniors offer social and educational support as people become accustomed to their lives in the United States. We cover health issues, mental health education, and how to access benefits and assistance. Our bilingual case managers also focus on decreasing seniors' isolation and helping them with any family conflict. Our ongoing caregiver support program provides family caregivers of older adults with case management, counseling, and training.
